In the Apostle Paul’s first letter to the Corinthians, he wrote direct - often harsh - words to a dysfunctional church. However, his second letter indicates they heard his words and worked on becoming more of  the community of believers they were called to be. Now, when so many people are claiming the church is less relevant and less needed, full of failings and flaws, we can read in Paul’s second letter the encouragement for us to do the same, to intentionally work together to escape the dysfunction and become functional instead - embracing Christs call to unity of mission, vision, and purpose.
