Shirley Hills Baptist Church of Warner Robins, GA, is seeking a full time Connections Pastor. We are a church committed to making disciples who will make disciples. This man will serve the church by overseeing the process of ministering to guests from their first visit to becoming disciple-making Christ followers. The Connections Pastor will oversee the disciple-making strategy of SHBC as well as help people become members. He should have a heart for discipleship and love people in a diverse community.


Personal Responsibilities:

  1. Constantly seek to grow spiritually; be committed to a daily period of prayer and Bible study

  2. Be a positive and cheerful representative of Jesus Christ and SHBC at all times

  3. Ensure personal and family life is to be consistent with 1 Timothy 5:17-22 and Titus 1:5-9.

  4. Give a tithe to the local church

  5. Shall be caring, discerning, sensitive, and must exhibit the characteristics of a person living a Christ-centered life as described in Col 3:12-17, Gal 5:22-23, and Phil 2:5-9

  6. Hold doctrinal views consistent with the 2000 Baptist Faith and Message

Pastoral Responsibilities:

  1. Lead the church in planning, developing, and implementing a comprehensive program to connect our people with the spiritual growth strategy of Shirley Hills Baptist Church

  2. Lead guests and members to develop a sense of belonging, involvement, and spiritual growth by meeting people where they are and encouraging them to develop and grow in Christ

  3. Facilitate relational connection and spiritual growth of adults through small groups, volunteer teams, and assimilation of new members

  4. Responsible for the development and execution of a first impressions ministry

  5. Responsible for the oversight and execution of a comprehensive small group ministry

  6. Responsible to facilitate connections on volunteer teams

  7. Responsible for the development and oversight of the church membership strategy

  8. Responsible for the development and oversight of a Pastoral Care strategy

  9. Other duties as assigned by the Senior Pastor


  1. Degreed education required; seminary preferred

  2. Preferably a minimum of five years of experience working with small groups and the disciple-making process in a mid-to-large sized church

  3. Demonstrate a passion for people, teaching, and exposition of the Bible

  4. Understand issues, demands, and pressures on families today

  5. Proficient with various forms of media and technology involved in ministry


  1. Work is performed inside with normal indoor lighting and controlled temperature. Outside exposure may be necessary occasionally.

  2. May require sitting and standing for extended periods.

  3. Requires lengthy utilization of a personal computer.
